Homemade Hand Print Plaques!

My friend Tyra gave me this great recipe to make hand print  plaques! They were so fun to make, I made one for each of my kids and I am now thinking about doing a footprint one!  The ones you can buy at the store are fun too but making it yourself makes it mean more!

INGREDIENTS
1 cup flour
1 cup salt
1/2 cup water with food coloring

MAKE IT
1. Mix it well, and keep kneading it, it will form together very well after a couple minutes.
2. Bake at 200 degrees for 2+ hours. Some took longer than others (I used foil to roll it out on and a bowl to cut the shape of it).

Makes 4 plaques.

  1. This might seem like a silly question but should we press the handprint, cut & shape and all that before or after baking? I'm thinking before but I've never made them like this and want to be sure :)

  2. you are right emberlee! you want to roll out or cut out the shape you want it to be on the foil and then press the hand or foot into it (or even paw if you wanted to do an animal)!! and then bake it!

  4. Love this idea! I read somewhere that you need to seal the plaque when it's done baking and cooled otherwise it will absorb moisture and get soft after a while. Have yours held up okay? Also, how much food coloring do you add?
